Love Poems for Dying Children - Act III - Winter and the Broken Angel

by Autumn Tears

/
1.
See the bird and its opulent beauty It asks not for love, it asks not for pity Yet mine eyes do betray me, for the feathers hath fallen The bird is no longer; a child in its place Her face... her face... A muse of stone and mirrors, concealed beneath the veil of a smile Within her hand I can see the shimmer, the steel that screams to taste my flesh... To unbind and unshackle me, once and forever I am nothing again... I unravel, I dissolve... I remember... The image is fading, these eyes cannot see We pray for their mercy, we pray to be free The sky is my painting, my tears are the rain I open these wings... and feel no more pain
2.
Chastise this... my sadness and agony Extinguish this, my once bitter flame of valiance To covet the wishes buried within their lustful innocence For these trinkets of living flesh... use not unwisely Scarlet oceans of bittersweet madness Painting us visions of their mockery Seek no comfort within silent ones, the beautiful ones For they are far less merciful than I...
3.
The Never 05:55
Do tell me why my dreams Speak to me always of never? For I am the never, the ever dreaming senses Within the windows of mine eyes, the beauty is ever shamed This searing imagery roots within my consciousness Imagery that which I wish to know of, and wish not to know of They are one in the same The silence of screaming, deep within the void of my never Take away the emptiness The dance echoes its imagery to me Again and again... and again Our dance... our very last dance Taunting me, jaunting delicately around the empty carousel Of what I now wish to be and what remains of my dreams Why must I dream of the flourishing fountain Ever flowing with the blood of all whom hath cried out my name? The dance echoes its imagery to me Again and again... and again Our dance... our very last dance Taunting me, jaunting delicately around the empty carousel Of what I now wish to be and what remains of my dreams A glimpse of a beautiful painting slips away Leaving in its place a canvas of endless black... Yet the illusion remains
4.
Beware, dearest daughter, beware of the silent ones the beautiful ones for now, they are all but whispers tempered within the edifice of time Beware, dearest daughter for they are far less merciful than I Even in death, my spirit cries out to her weeping for the youth that was raped the innocence that was defiled her pale, child-like, porcelain face Now shattered into a thousand tiny fragments of lifeless beauty each reflecting its own horror I laugh at the mockery and irony of fate for she spares no ones as she dances hand in hand with time she taunts us with her invisible smile a smile which to me reflects only a masque a masque which my face no longer wear Beware, dearest daughter, beware of the silent ones beware, dearest daughter for they are far less merciful than I
5.
My time hath come again, my sisters I allow thee to rest unrecognized Painlessly thou shalt sleep As death creeps into pale flesh of fertile golden bliss We shall not speak of thy awakening As long as I rule... my bitterness shall reign And my frost shall reflect the night Falling upon Summer's withering remains
6.
Spring... My youngest sister as well as the oldest Thou - but a mere child thyself, art the mother of each beginning... So naive and innocent! Why art thee so persistent? To birth anew what I hath avenged, what hath deserved to die?
7.
Oh, Summer... blissful one Our disparate souls are fated to eternal separation Thou could turn the earth into dust if it were thy desire But thou art too careless and too oblivious to see our mother's ruins... upon its surface
8.
9.
Alas, Autumn... do not fear, my dearest We are both misunderstood Thou art the one who welcomes me As I sweep through thy portals I shall now relieve thee From thy colorful melancholy and sorrowful fatigue From every word of betrayal hangs upon an icicle of misery a collection of tears of my past, now frozen I mourn Man's false dreams And the ones who think me a fool... shall lay before me, bleeding red crystals upon my frigid smile... into my wet, white grave So I can touch their suffering yet feel no remorse They pray to Summer... but they sacrifice unto me...

Love me not... love me not Take no pity upon me... take no comfort in my kiss Ask not why my tears flow without passion Ask me not.. love me not Confusion carved upon their fragile faces Masks of innocence hide their fury I give them sleep and peace Sleep, my children... sleep and forgive not Ask not, take not, love not, want not Tears no longer soften me... purity deceived by rage Look to them now and know They wish for none so passionate The desire for their eyes to forever blacken Streaming rivers of searing fury of which my name shall no longer be writ... Dawn awakens and hear me sing
12.
do you remember? fingers of sunlight, as they were caressing face? do you remember? the leaves dancing in the sky. then falling softly to their painless death the picture is there, as clear as the glass within their eyes as innocent as the song of mourning birds. birds who cry if only to live for but just one more day. to be like us yet their angelic faces bereave and they are always asking me why must we forgive... why can we not forget? if only to forgive, if never to forget... read these words that are engraved upon my face and then look away... look away... look away
13.
Gather me and sing so softly Die with me now and always I unravel I dissolve I unravel I dissolve I unravel, I dissolve, I remember...
14.
LIAR! DECEIVER! BETRAYER! HYPOCRITE! Scream out my name as I ravish the life from all that you love before your very eyes Through me, they shall reap their vengeance and regain their destiny Fate now sides with us... Watch helplessly as we deliver the gift of death But not for you, my dear foolish sister No! But not for you! Your fate shall be far less merciful... Taste our kiss for now and ever And live amongst what you have created and what you have become...
